Rooted & Refined: A Global Villa at Sur La Mer

Room to Desire: Rooted & Refined – A Global Villa at Sur La Mer

Issue No. 01 | Designed by JPD

“Spaces that shift your perspective.”

This villa doesn’t follow trends. It creates its own rhythm.

Tucked into the shoreline community of Sur La Mer, this newly completed residence by JPD is a masterclass in merging African warmth with Asian simplicity. The palette is raw and earthy: carved wood, terracotta, silk. But the execution is exact — not a detail wasted.

The result? A home that feels both ancient and impossibly current.

Design Dialogue

  • Kenyan teak + Indonesian stone
  • Handwoven textures meet smoked-glass partitioning
  • A custom dining table with brass inlay sourced from Marrakech
  • Built-in seating wrapped in Belgian linen and raw cotton

The villa moves in gradients — dark to light, heavy to soft, ancient to now.

What We Love

  • A hallway lined with tribal masks and softly up-lit
  • A Japanese soaking tub surrounded by tall bamboo
  • A meditation nook with floor seating and handwoven matting
  • Custom cabinetry in warm matte charcoal with brushed bronze pulls

Every room is an atmosphere — spiritual, tactile, quiet.

Design Insight

With so many Dubai homes leaning toward hyper-luxury gloss, this villa proves that true luxury today lies in restraint and material honesty. The home was built with an almost monastic discipline — but it’s far from minimal. It’s textural storytelling.

The LIVE LARGE Take

This villa shows what happens when you design a home not for Instagram — but for soul. It’s globally sourced, emotionally grounded, and deeply livable. A world traveler’s sanctuary, rooted in meaning.
